It was a cold Sunday morning, where our team (team 4) huddled up at Yeshwantpur. All super enthusiastic fresh looking 7 faces - Akash, Manish, Maulik, Shilpa, Sunita, Ayush and me.
We started our preparation by blowing up the balloons and our Santa (Ayush) dressing up. We had our first 'Gift a Smile' for a kid of a street side flower vendor. This was the start of the amazing day, 25th Dec 2016. People did drop in by us, to wish us merry Christmas. Receiving wishes further added energy to our spirits, and we had an amazing kick start.
Further we drove slow covering the designated areas to us, looking out for the unprivileged children, the cops on duty, public servants, stopping by them and handing out the gifts. Santa was full on in demand, seeking all the attention from small children to elders, and sometimes scaring away kids (this is the best part - a visual retreat indeed)
Once the distribution was completed, all the teams assembled at Cubbon Park. The Christmas was almost over, Santa's returned with a bag, which was still full.. full of happiness, satisfaction, smiles..handpicked from the roads of 'namma bengaluru'... Zara hatke..
It was a feast for the eyes to see this huge crowd - 63 BTCians, gather for a social cause. We had some fun as well and a cake cutting. After having done a wonderful job and as the hunger pang had kicked in, the cake tasted the best. With loads of happiness and smiles on faces, everyone bid adieu, and contentment of ending the year the best possible way. Thanks to BTC for organising this event.
Kudos to all the group leaders for taking the lead, doing the initial surveys and collecting the information, to be ready for the event day. Thanks to all the volunteers who joined on this occasion, giving their time and making it successful. Words of praise still seem less for the organisers for detailing out every bit and planning it to perfection, be it - buying the stationary, small toys, gift wrapping (paper sheets - plastics a strict no-no), cakes, juice tetra packs, chocolates, the idea of writing useful messages on balloons, etc. You guys are the best !! All the teams - great job!!
